Infectious Diseases, Health, and Wellbeing

This research is a collaboration with University of Aarhus, Denmark; Brighton-Sussex Medical School, UK; and, Macquarie University, Australia, to critically examine the social, political, cultural, economic, and environmental factors related to infectious diseases, health, and wellbeing from historical and risk reduction perspectives. 

Global Health Approach(es) to Humanitarian Action

In collaboration with Sunway University, Malaysia, this action research aims to incorporate planetary health approaches to humanitarian action by engaging with front-line humanitarian workers in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Climate Change, Disasters, and Health Risks

This research is a process to examine the challenges and opportunities in island states. In collaboration with the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines, University of York, UK, and XIM University in India, we are using the case studies of St Vincent and the Grenadines, UK, and Sri Lanka as island states that are dealing with climate change, disasters, and health risks.

Gender Equality and Women

This policy research is a collaboration with the Gender Unit of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) to learn from the lived realities of women as leading responders to climate-induced disasters in Asia and the Pacific. Research findings will conslidated into a practice paper to promote women's leadership in crisis response.

Traditional Medicine and One Health

We try to explain and provide a new framework for One Health through understanding traditional medical systems from Asian, African, and Latin American philosophies. We are collaborating with researchers mostly from Global South on this.

University Collaborations

This capacity building process collaborates with universities from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand, and South Africa to develop new curriculums, research approaches, and strengthen the early-career academics to expand their reach into global platforms.
